How it feels...
Short and not filling out the position
Opposite to the long pulse
What it is differentiated from...
Moving pulse is short but felt like bean and vibrating. This pulse usually accompanies slippery and rapid with strength.
What it indicates....
Deficiency of the Qi (short without strength)
Retention of food due to the stagnation of the Qi, stasis of Blood and accumulated phlegm
Why it so feels...
Qi deficiency does not have enough strength and the pulse is short without strength.
Retention of the food obstructs the way of channels and vessels causing this pulse with strength.
What its complications indicate...
Short and floating pulse indicates the deficiency of the Lung Qi or congealed Blood.
Short and choppy pulse indicates the deficiency of the Heart Qi or obstruction of the Heart channel.
Short and deep pulse indicates the distention and fullness in the chest and upper abdomen.
Short and slow pulse indicates the empty cold due to the Yang deficiency.
